Olympian Ellie wins 6 silver medals with TeamGB at the European Special Olympics

Ellie is part of the Workbridge family and joins us each week at our Bedford Road site in Northampton to learn vocational skills. But, did you know that Ellie is also a gymnast for TeamGB?

In September, Ellie travelled with TeamGB to Slovakia to compete at the European Special Olympics in rhythmic gymnastics. While there, she won 6 silver medals – 1 each for hoop, rope, ribbon, ball, best all round and group routines. We’re incredibly proud of her achievements!

Ellie first started gymnastics when she was 7 years old. She has gone on to win over 70 medals as a gymnast in various UK and European competitions, and represented TeamGB in 3 Special Olympics.

Ellie is currently waiting on a call to represent TeamGB at the World Summer Games in 2023!

On the 6 silver medals at the Special Olympics, Ellie said – “I’ve been doing the sport since I was 7 and it’s something I like to do! I like everything about it.” Regarding the competition in Slovakia, Ellie said, “It was hard, very challenging but exciting. My mum’s really chuffed!”

… And so are we Ellie!
