This event is ideally suited to those who have or who are supporting the care of people with a mental illness, learning disability, autism or a brain injury.

Exhibitors

We have a great range of exhibitors due to attend our open event, each providing advice and guidance on the support people with mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries can access locally. They include:

Northamptonshire County Council Local Offer Team

The Local Offer publishes information about the services available for children and young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities. The Local Offer makes it easier for you and your parents/carers to make choices about the most appropriate services that you can access. Talk to the Local Offer team to find out what is available locally.

Northamptonshire Adult Social Services (NASS) + Olympus Care

In April 2017 Olympus Care Services and Adult Social Care were brought together to form NASS, Northamptonshire Adult Social Services with a combined vision to increase the wellbeing and outcomes of all adults in Northamptonshire. NASS provides a range of care and support services throughout Northamptonshire for adults with disabilities and older people. NASS will be available at the event to discuss their support services and the funding process available for people with mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries.

Links – Consensus Support

The Links Day Centre provides an environment for adults with learning disabilities within the local area to enjoy a full range of lifestyle activities and learning opportunities. Visit their stand to discover what activities and learning opportunities are offered.

Mentaur Group

The Mentaur Group provides specialist care services, including residential, supported living, domiciliary care and day resources to adults with mental health needs and/or learning disabilities. The Group manages 5 residential homes and 3 supported living properties in Northamptonshire, supporting people to develop their independent living skills.

Spectrum Northants

Spectrum offers recovery based services for people with mental health and learning disability needs. Their services span education, workskills and lifeskills training. Talk to the team to see what opportunities exist at Spectrum.

Suncare Services

Suncare Services provide a range of services to improve the independence of people through skill development and experiences. Activities on offer include aquatic exercises, arts and crafts, cooking, sensory play, music, outdoor activities, short breaks and holidays. Workbridge

Based in central Northampton, Workbridge offers people with mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries the chance to learn and develop work and life skills through a broad range of vocational activities, including woodwork, ceramics, coffee shop, horticulture, contracting, office skills, design and print and catering. Workbridge will be offering you the chance to get involved and try some vocational activities at the event.

Northgate School Art College

The Bee Hive and Sweet Bee

The Bee Hive is a community based business, comprising a coffee shop and charity shop, which is open to the public, and designed to provide real-life work based learning opportunities for young people with learning difficulties and associated physical difficulties.

Sweet Bee is a small sweet shop offering young people (up to 25 yrs) with special educational needs employability skills training in a retail environment. They will bring a selection of goodies from their sweet shop such as Black Jacks, Flying Saucers, Cherry Lips and Cola bottles to show what opportunities young people can access.

Freedom Leisure

Freedom Leisure organise a number of activities for children, young people and adults who are living with a disability. Located at the Pemberton Centre they run a Young Inclusive People (YIP) club, Multi Activity club, YIP dance, disability disco each month and a full summer holiday programme. Northamptonshire Sport

Northamptonshire Sport is dedicated to providing opportunities for people to participate in sport, physical activity and recreation in Northamptonshire. They ensure that sport is both safe and inclusive, helping people with mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries to get active and play sport. Visit their stand to find out what is available locally.

Daily Bread Co-operative Ltd

Daily Bread offers a range of healthy food and eco products. Located next to the Workbridge Coffee shop and Garden Centre, Daily Bread offer vocational opportunities and work placements for people with mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries. Visit their stand to understand the opportunities available at Daily Bread.

Brixworth Nursery Farm

Situated in the Northamptonshire countryside overlooking Pitsford Reservoir, Brixworth Nursery Farm is an inspirational purpose built life skills and resource centre providing high quality day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.

Sunflower Day Centre

Sunflower Day Centre is a private day care centre for adults with learning disabilities. They support people to develop social, emotional, communication and independent living skills through a range of activities.

Creative Support

Creative Support is a charitable organisation which promotes the independence, inclusion and wellbeing of people with care and support needs. They do this by working with people, their families and partner agencies to deliver innovative, high quality services that meet individual needs and aspirations in a person-centred way. Brookside Day Centre

Brookside Day Centre provides modern day care services for adults with learning disabilities. They work to provide individuals with active choices in how they spend their time, enabling a sense of purpose and wellbeing. They tailor activities to individual needs helping to build independence, life and work skills and confidence. Their new premises in Northampton include social spaces, activity areas and a rooftop garden, used to grow organic fruit and vegetables.

Northamptonshire Carers

Northamptonshire Carers are the main support for Carer’s in Northamptonshire. They offer a range of services and activities for Carers, a Carers support line offering advice and emotional support and Carers Assessments which highlight what support Carers can access.

Pheonix Rising MK

Established in 2015, Pheonix Rising MK provides a range of creative and social interaction activities for adults with disabilities and support needs across Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire. They will be available to talk to about what activities are available in Northampton.

Canto Learning

Canto Learning provides vocational and educational opportunities for people with special education needs, including learning difficulties, health problems and disabilities. Their education opportunities include nationally recognised qualifications in over 15 areas, including Maths, English, Drama and Music. 

Sessions you can try

During the event Workbridge will be running some sessions which you can roll up your sleeves and try for yourself.

 

Cupcake decorating

Workbridge Coffee Shop is well known for its delicious cakes!  Have a go at decorating a yummy cupcake to take away with you. 

 

Make a lacy dish 

Using terracotta clay, you’ll be able to make a beautiful small dish that will be fired and ready for collection in a few weeks.

 

Design a wooden keyring

Personalise a wooden keyring by decorating it however you wish using a pyrography pen.  You’ll learn how to burn text or images into wood to create different decorative effects.

 

Morsbag demonstration

Learn about how to reduce waste and look after the environment by turning unwanted material into reusable shopping bags.
